Pond Pump Comparison: Sequence 750 Series vs. Elite 800 Series

We receive quite a few inquiries from pond owners wondering which external pond pump is the best choice for their specific needs. Since every pond is different, there is no universally accepted "best" answer when it comes to making a pump recommendation. But when it comes to choosing an external pump for smaller residential ponds or water gardens, many experienced pond professionals would agree that two pumps on the market offer the best value in terms of price and performance. For many pond builders it ultimately comes down to a choice between either a Sequence 750 Series Pump or an Elite 800 Series Pump. So for the benefit of our valued customers nationwide, below are the actual published performance curves for these popular external pond pumps. In addition, you will also find a side-by-side comparison of the published specifications and current retail prices of all models included in the Sequence 750 Series and Elite 800 Series line of pumps. We hope you find this article informative and helpful, and if you do, please be sure to like us on Facebook.

Analysis:

While both Sequence and Elite Pumps offer a solid reputation for quality and reliability, Elite 800 Series Pumps actually do offer higher flow rates and higher maximum head compared to Sequence 750 Series Pumps. Both Sequence 750 Series and Elite 800 Series Pumps offer outstanding energy efficiency, with both pumps ranking basically dead even once you factor in head pressure and actual wattage used. There are three models available in the Elite 800 Series, with the largest model offering a maximum flow rate of 5,600 GPH. There are only two models offered in the Sequence 750 Series, with the largest offering a maximum flow rate of 4,200 GPH. Both series of pumps offer whisper quiet operation. Elite Pumps feature extra-long 15' power cords with molded plug, compared to 8' cords offered by Sequence. This added cord length is important for ponds that are not constructed near an electrical outlet. Both Sequence and Elite Pumps are covered by a three year warranty. Based on our experience, both manufacturers make it a point to respond quickly to any warranty issues brought to their attention. For added peace of mind, Elite 800 Series Pumps are also available in "Platinum Series" models covered by an extended 4 year warranty. These pumps are easily identified by their gold motor.

The maximum flow rates commonly advertised for Sequence 750 Series Pumps are based on zero total dynamic head (TDH), whereas the maximum flow rates advertised for Elite 800 Series Pumps are based on 5' TDH. Since zero TDH rarely exists in a real-world pond application where actual plumbing is involved, it can be argued that using 5' of TDH as the baseline provides a far more accurate expectation of real-world performance. When you do an actual side-by-side comparison of published flow rates between Sequence 750 Series and Elite 800 Series Pumps based on equal TDH, the performance difference between these external pumps is even more profound.

Pond Filtration / Elite Optimus III Koi Pond Fil...
Last post by KoiPondStore - May 18, 2022, 09:35 PM

Elite OPTIMUS III Backwashing Pond Filters utilize OPTIMA bio-mechanical media! Effective bio-mechanical filtration for koi ponds is dependent on the establishment of beneficial bacteria colonies on the biological media found within your pond filter. This good bacteria growing on your bio media converts dissolved toxic nitrogenous waste into harmless compounds, helping to provide optimal water quality needed for koi and other pond fish.  Elite OPTIMUS III Pond Filters are the only professional grade koi pond filtration systems on the market to utilize OPTIMA bio media. This proprietary bio media provides up to 7x more surface area than other media types commonly used in competitor filters. This superior bio media type effectively removes debris from your pond while also ensuring a healthy ecosystem.OPTIMUS III Filters are by far the easiest pond filters to maintain. Backwashing your OPTIMUS filter takes only a few minutes. Powerful internal jets easily separate fish waste and other debris from the OPTIMA bio media without clumping, quickly separating waste and exporting it via the waste line. The OPTIMUS III Filter is available in 5 standard models suitable for ponds up to 10,000 gallons and was designed specifically to handle heavy fish loads. Featuring a lightweight design, OPTIMUS pond filter are also designed to handle high flow rates making them ideal for use in ponds with waterfalls.

Pond Filtration / Elite Genesis Koi Pond Filters
Last post by KoiPondStore - May 18, 2022, 09:31 PM
Elite GENESIS filters are designed for highly stocked koi ponds up to 27,000 gallons.  First in filtration, the Genesis koi pond filtration system is arguably the finest pressurized bead filter system ever designed for use in outdoor Koi ponds. These durable, professional-grade pond filters offer unrivaled performance and value compared to competitor filters on the market. Featuring a compact design, Genesis Filters are also the easiest bead filtration systems to maintain. Recommended weekly maintenance can be completed in less than 5 minutes, allowing you to spend more time enjoying your pond. Covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, the Genesis is truly in a class by itself. Specifically engineered to deliver exceptional water quality even for highly stocked environments, the Genesis is the perfect choice for large Koi ponds as well as a wide variety of aquaculture applications. An 8-inch clear lid comes standard with all Genesis Filter models, which allows you to view the bio media itself while the filter is in use. This is a major upgrade compared to yellow lids commonly offered with competitor filters. A powerful 2 horsepower air blower also comes standard with all Genesis systems, which effectively removes fish waste and other harmful debris from the filter bio media during backwash. The Genesis biological filter media is also a huge upgrade compared to many filter systems on the market. Unlike tubular media, which can allow a large amounts of waste and debris to simply tunnel its way back into your pond, Genesis bio media is designed to provide maximum surface area for beneficial bacteria growth while also providing outstanding fines removal (mechanical filtration). To help maximize value, Genesis Filters are also designed to work well with todays high flow, energy efficient pumps (Elite Primer Pro Pumps recommended).
